You Trust 'The People'?

Ultracrepidarian Alert

I have seen some Iranians rejoicing at the prospect of regime change... but I think perhaps Rajneesh Chandra Mohan put it best:

'Democracy basically means government by the people, of the people, for the people... but the people are [braindead].'

People don't have any idea what goes into governing a nation. Especially a large nation. A potentially nuclear armed nation. A nation that is besieged by its neighbour (Israel) and the world's most powerful nation (the USA). The people suffer in their day to day lives and blame the Ayatollah. But is the Iranian government really to blame? And who would do a better job? By no means am I defending the Iranian government. I admit total ignorance to how it works. But it must be somewhat capable, if it was running the largest and arguably most powerful middle eastern nation for 40 years.

Ask people what they want, and maybe they'll tell you they want the Iranian government to fall. But the people don't really know what that means. Think about the people you know. Ask them what they think would be best for your country. What they would do given the full backing of a state. You trust their judgement? You think that if the government worked the way the average person wanted it to that the world would be more peaceful, more prosperous, more ordered?

'The People' like Coldplay and watch TikTok. You can't trust the people.
